MOLEHILL |
|
Molehill began as a farm manager’s home in the late 19th century for Willow Oaks Farm. It had several later additions, and in 1990, approximately 2200 s.f. were added in a major restoration. It was totally restored tip to stern and upgraded in 2006.
Molehill is located at the end of Mosquito Point Road in an extremely quiet and prestigious neighborhood. Nearby homes (2 properties away to the North and South) have recently sold for $1.3M and $1.4M respectively.
With southerly views of the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay, it is the perfect family house - lots of segregated spaces for children & adults, large reception spaces, and ample outdoor living spaces. It is full of character and personality, indicative of homes that have developed over time. With its breezy double verandahs facing the river, it possesses a gentile southern charm.
A separate guest house features a sitting room/bedroom, a small kitchenette and full bath. Overlooking the tennis court, and with views of the Rappahannock River, it is suitable for guests, in-laws, staff, or a wonderful home office. It has its own separate utility systems (plumbing, electrical, telephone).
Mature manicured gardens surround the property with azaleas, camellias, rhododendron, bay laurel, Japanese holly, larkspur, hydrangeas, forsythia, wisteria, clematis, specimen yew, etc. Flowers include tulips, daffodils, hibiscus, roses, jonquils, black eyed susans, lilies and many other annuals.
A red clay tennis court, in an excellent setting, is hedged with ‘green’ fencing - the dark green vines and foliage provide a perfect backdrop for ball visibility. There is an underground-piped sprinkler system for watering.
There is an elliptical brownstone driveway in the front and a rear drive leading to the 2 vehicle carport next to the rear doorway. In addition, there is a tool shed/well house with power points, a storage building with attached lawn tractor shed. |
